Carmarthen U3A meets on the last Thursday of each month, with the exceptions of August and December, at St Peter’s Outdoor Bowling Club, (off St Peter’s car park) Carmarthen, SA31 11N at 1.15p.m. for 2pm.
There is no charge for admission and non members are welcome to come along for a “trial run” to see if they would like to join U3A. Tea and biscuits are available from 1.15pm for a small fee.
We also hear from a guest speaker.
At the monthly meeting at St Peter’s Bowling Club on Thursday April 25th there was an exciting presentation by Sarah Jenkins on ‘A Television Quiz Show’ . The pictures tell the story!
The next monthly meeting will be on Thursday May 30th ( 1.15pm for 2.00pm) – ‘the Annual General Meeting AGM at St Peter’s Bowling Club.
The Speaker’s Secretary is Judy Taylor who has provided us with some excellent speakers on a wide variety of subjects. We have seen some amazing magic from Tyweli Griffiths, heard about Carmarthen Town’s proposed development and the pedestrianisation of King’s Street, together with upgrading the Jackson’s Lane area, the Wales Air Ambulance, the challenge of being a chaplain in Iraq, learnt about the flora and animal life in the West of Ireland’s “The Burren” , the Suffrage movement in Carmarthen and been told about the work of the Dog’s Trust.
Spring Coffee Morning
The Spring Coffee Morning took place as planned on Thursday 11th April 2019 from 10.30 am in the Bowling Club. Standard admission fee was £2.00. There was a raffle and a quiz with loads of prizes for the winners. It seemed as if everyone was a winner! The drinks and cakes were free and the choice was mouth-watering.
It was a lovely social occasion. A big thank you to Marie Geary and others for organising things

This month the Sunday Lunch will take place on 19th May 2019 at the White Hart, Llandeilo (12.30 pm). The arrangements are being made by Betty Marshall. She can be contacted for further information via firstname.lastname@example.org
The 2018 Christmas dinner was held at the Falcon Hotel, Lammas Street, Carmarthen. A big thank you to Marie Geary for booking the hotel and making all the arrangements.
On the day a good time was had by all. David and Gwyneth Grindod provided some unexpected seasonal entertainment!
