It seemed to me that as we can have no philosophy without words, that we should begin by looking at what words actually are. In fact they are only arbitrary labels attached to little bits we perceive and are breathtakingly inefficient when examined closely. We spent one of our meetings trying to define a window and ultimately decided we had failed. If we can’t define “window” in our modern tongue, how on earth are were we going to understand a medieval German philosopher? Or an ancient Greek?
Topics I’m hoping to cover are: epistemology (how we know things), the nature of evil, happiness, esoteric philosophy, religion, science, evolution, time and dimension, intuition, logic, philosophy of the paranormal, perception and ooh – who knows what else? Whatever it is it will be fun.
