Due to the departure of Angharad Harding from her role as manager of Yr Atom the next meeting on the 8th January 2019 of the Welsh Group (which she helped facilitate) has been cancelled. Further details about future meetings will be posted in due course.

History of Carmarthen Talk

Join Ken Murphy from the Dyfed Archaeological Trust for a talk about the history of Carmarthen as a settlement and how its natural and artificial features have been shaped over time.

The talk will be held at Yr Atom, King Street, Carmarthen on 31st January 2019. This is a free drop-in session and will take place between 11am and 11.45am

James Dickson Innes Film

Local artist James Dickson Innes who attended Carmarthen School of Art (Oriel Myrddin) in 1902 and was for a time a companion of Augustus John. The film will be downstairs in Carmarthen Library and start at 11am on Friday 23rd November 2018.

According to Wikipedia:

James Dickson Innes was born on 27 February 1887 in Llanelli, in south Wales. His father, John Innes, who had come from Scotland, was an historian and had an interest in a local brass and copper works; his mother was of Catalan descent. He had two brothers, Alfred and Jack.
